Using strategic techniques analogous of a pro-football coach, combined with divine inspiration given to all of us from God, and tempered with good business principles and practices, Steve Henry provides a “game plan” to success for people to achieve their goals in business, and in life. Creating a book that the reader gets “more back in return than what’s invested” was Steve Henry’s goal in writing The Playbook for Small Businesses. Steve Henry is truly a modest and empathic person, and as such, he has cultivated his business philosophy including respect for the customer, honesty, doing the right thing, and giving back more than expected. His feeling of giving stems from Biblical teachings, as his generosity is demonstrated in all aspects of his life; to his customers, his employees, and literally even to strangers. He moves along a path of predestined success set forth in his mind, with guidance from his heart more so than from his mind. He personifies his faith by bringing the wisdom from Christian teachings into play in everyday situations and in everything he does.

He writes about a dozen basic principles such as restraint, team cooperation, avoiding penalties, and keeping the vision of winning in the forefront of your mind. For each of these principles, he then breaks it down into the situation, the strategy, and the execution of the game plan – what to do and how to do it to get the desired outcome. Then he embellishes each concept with stories from his past that have been significant in his development, and includes his faith based teachings which guides him throughout all of what he does.
