Life is an exciting journey that everyone should be grateful to experience. From the highs, the lows, and all that’s in between is spent shaping us into the people we are meant to be. An important question many of us still will never know the answers to is, why do bad things happen to good people? Even though there is meaning to everything that happens in our lives, unfortunately, we’ll never know the real reason behind it all. The emotional rollercoaster of successes and failures really should not come as a surprise, but in retrospect, we’re built with resilience and there should be no excuse on bouncing back. It is highly frowned upon to allow anything that keeps us down to remain a crutch because lessons can be learned from everything that happens in our lives. True love is something else that most of us take for granted, as not many of us would ever get to feel the warm embrace of another individual willing to do any and everything for us. Loving unconditionally is a rarity in and of itself, which is stranger than fiction. What happened to our world and our people that most of us are so callous to one another?
In Raindrops, author Lexington Justice begins by getting his readers acquainted with Stefani Tanner, an Executive Marketer of AMERI-GEN. We also learn that she is a wonderful wife and mother to two young boys, who remains energetic, full of life, and puts everyone’s needs above her own. This remarkably successful woman failed to realize just how quickly her ‘semi-happy’ life in North Carolina can shatter in the matter of a day, which led her back to her hometown in Maryland. As we’re a witness to an upside-down effect, she finds herself at rock bottom, or so she thought. While no good deed goes unrecognized or without gratitude, when a complete 360 degree of changes counteracted her misfortune of events, she sought out the anonymous individual responsible for an act of kindness in her favor. This individual was revealed as Gavin Thorne, her softball assistant coach from her high school years. After building a connection with him to the point of love, things began to look up for her. She finally felt empowered to take back control of her life, understanding what is most important by no longer taking things for granted, she gained a new perspective and a sense of self. Unfortunately, sometimes even the best moments in life have limitations, leaving us in wonderment.
I am so proud of Stefani at all that she had to go through with her career, her marriage, and motherhood. She didn’t deserve any of the bad things that occurred but understood that everything happens for a reason. I was upset and truly felt for her when she received the devastating news, it showed me just how precious loving someone who’s your soul mate really is. I’m always happy for those who get the opportunity to love and be loved, as I hope to one day experience that in my lifetime. Even though things weren’t the greatest, I truly believe she wouldn’t have traded that in for anything else in the world. Things aren’t perfect because we’re not perfect, but we must take into consideration that no matter how unfair things seem, everyone and everything has a purpose. I hope she continues moving forward with what she learned from Gavin’s short time in her life.
I highly recommend everyone to read this book and truly grasp that you always have the chance to start anew, no matter how difficult your current situation may seem, you truly deserve good things to happen to you.
