Most fail to understand that praying helps resolve conflicts which are beyond our understanding, and we should focus on keeping that in mind. Working alongside others takes responsibility and accountability, ensuring successful results. Unfortunately, people don’t think the same because their experiences do not always express understanding. God doesn’t want us to live a life of struggles, misunderstanding, or to receive a lack of love. Being proactive in your spirituality grants you more benefits than an average person who doesn’t. Continuing to pray, communicating your troubles, placing your stress into His hands, and not taking the life gifted to you for granted will keep you in God’s favor.
In Release Me, author Gearline Young described what individuals go through when they stray from God’s word in a relatable and easy to understand manner. The first couple, Ann and Greg, who are a married couple, have gone through tough times that caused ripples in their marriage and overall life at home. When there is abuse, there is a lack of communication, which causes problems to grow and become big. Building and having relationships with others, we must learn how to communicate. Ann and Greg didn’t express their thoughts about what was occurring in their marriage together. Instead, they opted to express their disappointments to others. There should have been having a
conversation to give them a chance to talk through it together, collaboratively. When this happens in a supposedly loving relationship to keep things from being misconstrued, no one ever takes a moment to uncover why. God is always there for us, so we should seek and talk to Him about everything that affects us. The most important relationship we will ever have is with God, aside from our own self and the one we develop with others, those would come after. Prayer will help us through any tribulations we face because God can carry our burdens and troubles, but we have to trust in Him and the process. The saying, “let go and let God,” is demonstrated within this book.
Ann noticed things weren’t going well in their marriage and continued to pray for their household. She began spending more time with church members, and the troubles at home got better. People we invite into our lives can have a positive or negative effect. Since the church members added positivity to her life, she continued to spend time with them, helping her through her problems at home. The great thing was she had a conversation with her husband and invited him to a casual church function. A new life chapter has started in their marriage as Greg had a great time, while his troubled heart began to change in the right direction. They both began a better version of themselves and showed up in their marriage for each other. Allowing to come to God anytime gives people a chance to reap the benefits that come with God’s love. Of course, it doesn’t stop there because it was only one aspect of healing. The other areas one must improve on will naturally shape them into better beings. It only matters how well someone can recognize they need guidance and help every step of their life’s journey because God doesn’t stop working on us. We must be willing to put in the effort and do the challenging parts, as God helps those who help themselves. Sometimes, we are misguided and need intervention to help get us where we’re trying to go. Ann was the vehicle guiding Greg back to church. That led him to develop healthy friendships within the church, and he became less abusive to her. We would all improve ourselves because it creates a better breeding ground for more opportunities to experience.
As you continue to read through this short book, you will learn about the other challenging moments in one’s life. The troubles mentioned are relatable, as this book highlights a few things that bring shame. Some people participate in sins such as greed by wanting more, than being grateful for what they already have. Ann did a lot of praying because she wanted to be on the list of names in the book of life. Prayers helped give clarity and she realized whenever she put her trust in God, he will provide.
I enjoyed reading this book because it highlights clear examples of disobeying God and what we can do to correct our negative ways. It was an inspiring story of a married couple torn by sin and figuring out the best method to find themselves. I’m happy that things will continue to look better for them because they didn’t give up on themselves or each other. I highly recommend others to read this book, grasp an understanding, and learn that there is more than enough time to make things right in life.
