In Size Zero, the reader is taken to a world of horror, lies, manipulation, romance, deception and untold secrets in the faction and modeling industry. The characters possess strong traits and play their roles so well that one wishes to see them on screen. Abigail Mangin wrote an intriguing book which will put the readers on the edge. The first character I liked in the book was Ava. Not only did I like how bold she was, but I also liked her demeanor and way of thinking. Ava was the kind of girl who would correct you if she thought you were wrong without holding back. She was outspoken and was never intimidated, even by those who seemed older than her. I enjoyed following her on her escapades and reading about the experiences she had in the fashion world.
Annabelle Leigh had disappeared for more than a decade. As expected, her family and friends spent agonizing days and nights looking for her. Annabelle was nowhere to be found. Missing posters were made and anyone thought to have been in contact with her asked about her whereabouts. The search was to no avail. One key person that was in the middle of Annabelle’s disappearance was Cecil LeClaire. Everyone questioned the man as he was too close to Annabelle. The last time the girl was seen was when a townhouse camera had caught a video of Annabelle outside Cecil LeClaire’s mansion.
Years after Anabelle’s death, a dead body became the coolest thing on the streets when a coat made out of human skin made its way to a runway. The coat had people interested given the magnitude of the fashion show. Something was however eerie. The coat had an uncanny resemblance to Annabelle Leigh’s body. How was this possible? Tension and suspense build up when one gets to this part of the book. The reader is kept on toes as one gets the urge to read more so as to find out the truth. One is filled with mixed emotions at this point. Is it a good thing if the body is Annabelle Leigh’s? Will the mystery of her disappearance finally be solved? Is the boyfriend innocent? Do some agents have something to do with the missing teenage girl?
Abigail Mangin made the story extremely thrilling and more impressive by introducing this bit in the plot. Cecil, now a monk, had to go back home together with Ava Germaine to unravel the missing pieces of the puzzle. Size Zero is that kind of book that gets you off a reader’s block moment. The writing is flawless and the author creative with the plot and characters. You get to see the different sides of your favorite characters with every new revelation. I enjoyed the flow of the story, the investigative part of the plot, the trip to the crystal castes and the role Ava played generally. I believe Ava was a crucial character, adding to an unforgettable story. Size Zero is an excellent book of which I highly recommend.
