Simple things in life, such as a journey outdoors to the edge of a forest, offer so much pleasure, as exemplified in author Isabell Hayden’s illustrated children’s book The Adventures of Amber: Walk in the Woods.
In this delightful story, readers are introduced to Amber, a pretty and neatly dressed young girl, visiting her Grandparent’s cabin in the woods. It is there, on a summer vacation, Amber, along with her cute dog Daisy, go with Grandma for a walk down the path leading from her cottage into the forest.
Happy and excited, Amber and Grandma, along with Daisy, frolic in the woods, seeing the magnificent evergreen trees and being totally in awe on their huge size. Then their attention becomes focused on some beautiful birds chirping. They decide to pick up some leaves and twigs which have fallen to the ground to make an art project. They settle down under a leafy tree on a bed of moss which feels like a soft blanket, and see brown mushrooms and tiny insects. Looking up to the white clouds in the sky Amber imagines she sees the shape of Daisy and another cloud which looks like a sheep. Then, down by a stream, they see playful ducks “Quacking” while splashing in the water. Amber rejoices! Seeing colorful wildflowers, itsy-bitsy wild strawberries, butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds, all add so much enjoyment to their afternoon. So as the sun begins to go down, they head back, only to be interrupted by the croaking of some frogs.
This book is crafted by a young author and a very talented artist. Together, Isabell Hayden along with artist Bekir Rıza Şahin have created a fanciful story with Mother Nature at its core; showing just how much fun can be achieved by taking time to pause and admire many of what is around us all of the time. Isabell Hayden has further added descriptions at the end of the story about many of the animals and fauna, which will educate the youngsters reading this book.
The Adventures of Amber: Walk in the Woods is a beautiful escape to the outdoors, whether it’s bedtime, a rainy day, or just stuck inside for some reason. Clouds, trees, insects, flowers and frolicking is just a flip-away by paging this delightful book, and a great way to feel the love of your Grandma.
