The six novels that make up co-authors N. M. Reed & Whitney Lee Preston’s The Adventures of Elf and Troll: Two Kingdoms tells the gripping story of Elf and her companion and guardian Troll’s laborious attempt to unite two kingdoms by completing a daunting assignment for their goddess.
To convey her message to King Harold the Wise of the North, Valerie the Kind, the Good Queen of the South uses Trolls and Elves as her messengers. They must navigate the terrible Forest of Fear, which is located between the Kingdom of Kindness and the Kingdom of Wisdom and is full of horrific tales, as well as the Darkened Wood, the Pass of the Cats, and the Hob Goblin’s Knob End, under the leadership of Elf, who is diminutive in stature. Out of allegiance to their queen, they must protect themselves from internal and external threats and not dispute the queen’s message, which to Elf is like a code language.
It seems to King Harold the Wise that Elf and his late Good Queen Constance have something in common. He likes her confidence and demeanor in carrying out her demanding duty. Therefore, he decides to give her a valuable present. Elf worries, however, that he might not have realized what was inside the little package he gives to her. Her quest introduces her to a new friendship with messenger Elf Baldrik from the Kingdom to the North, as well as the great messenger Eagle Gaston. When something evil and sinister begins to eerily approach them, it creates new worries which cast doubt on their safety, friendship, and capacity to perform their jobs.
This gripping story is skillfully interwoven throughout six books. A magnificent experience full of exciting happenings is delivered as the suspense rises to one of the biggest and happiest victories between the two kingdoms. The primary protagonists are likable, simple individuals who remarkably and successfully withstand the evil methods and guile of a malicious force. They start as underdogs, with many desirable physical attributes as well as a wealth of inner strength.
Reed has expertly written a series of related books, each written in a unique style and voice. Targeting young readers, The Adventures of Elf and Troll: Two Kingdoms explores magic, loyalty, and talking animals, showcasing his inventiveness and fluid imagination. This story, which is readily digestible in a single sitting, captures the reader’s imagination and emotions while transporting them to a world beyond the norm. This is not to be missed by readers interested in fantasy and mythology.
