The Floater: The Out of Body Experiences of Allen Beamer is an inspiring novel about spirituality and faith. Author Thomas Wayne has written a novel which will certainly enlighten readers. The Floater tells the story of Allen, a young man who becomes interested in astral projection, floating above his own body while he sleeps. While he projects with a silver cord to bring him back to earth, things change when the cord breaks. Allen soon finds himself trapped between heaven and earth with a guardian angel to guide him on his journey. His ex-girlfriend, Jenny, has to decide whether to project herself to get him out of limbo or whether to leave him floating in space forever. With faith and prayer, Allen and Jenny make choices which change their lives forever.

The Floater is a delightful book with empathetic characters easy to admire. Allen is an intellectually and spiritually curious young man who wants to balance New Age beliefs with his Christian faith. Jenny is a brave character who loves Allen and wants to help him, but is scared of the unknown world of astral projection and floating between heaven and earth. Allen’s grandmother is the sensible voice of reason as Allen travels between worlds.

The Floater combines traditional and unconventional beliefs in a novel and convincing way. The practice of astral projection is usually associated with New Age and pagan rituals. However, Wayne writes about the Christian roots of astral projection, with Biblical verses referencing similar travels. Wayne’s writing covers serious matters such as spirituality and the soul, yet has light moments as well. As Allen projects his body around the world, his confusion about where he’s going with his guardian angel and attempts to watch his language adds levity to The Floater.

This book would be best for readers who like spiritual novels and encounters about near-death experiences. Fans of books such as Heaven Is for Real by Todd Burpo and Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander will love this novel. This is a book which can appeal to religious and non-religious readers simultaneously with its wide appeal. The Floater is also best for readers who are open to different kinds of spiritual ideas. The Floater can be used in books clubs for readers who believe in New Age spiritual beliefs and traditional Christian faith as well.

The Floater is a short, but impactful. It truly is a book which will leave readers wanting more from Allen and Jenny’s heavenly travels. Wayne has written a book which will make readers look to the sky in a new way, with curiosity and wonder.
