I wait around each year to see which country is ranked #1 in happiness and why. I find it a fascinating concept and tool to evaluate my own life. After all, everyone searches for contentment and harmony in our lives. I find that we might all be able to rank a little higher if we were to read Bob Yari’s book The Human Condition: A Pathway to Peace and Fulfillment.
In easy-to-read chapters, Yari lines out what he sees as necessary to find this peace and fulfillment. Explaining the human mind or the traits which we must utilize, the author first gives us the background knowledge and then later helps us find the traits we need to achieve these goals.
We learn how the mind works, how religion and spirituality differ, and our overwhelming need for acceptance. We see how some of the things we adopt to find that illusive happiness often goes against our nature, often impeding the quality of our lives. Often, what we think will bring us peace takes us further from it. This book talks about how with thoughtfulness and open-minded consideration, we can break the bias and restraints of what he calls our influence beliefs.
Not only does Yari provide us with information and theories about ourselves and humanity, but he also addresses what we can do to improve our lives. I personally appreciated the call to action in this book. As the book progresses, Yari explores traits that we need to nourish ourselves. A few key attributes Yari writes about is our attitude, gratitude, and balance.
I found several new ideas and considerations in this book that really made me think about my own life, biases, and the overall human condition. I would recommend The Human Condition: A Pathway to Peace and Fulfillment to others who are trying to grow and hunt for that overall contentment in their lives.
