Tim Johnson is a young jackeroo working in a team of shearers for a while now. This is his story from becoming orphaned at a very young age, to being adopted at the age of 15, and then at the age of 25 how he broke free from his life in Hell and into a whole new world. Upon meeting Molly, he knows he has found his true love. Throughout the years, their love is tested by floods, fire, and the loss of their child, only for them to stand strong together for 40 years. While it may be tough in the Australian outback, some things are tougher.
Grahame Moore provides a beautifully written love story for his readers to kick back and enjoy. It opens up with Tim joining the shearer group, and already readers are hooked. Dialogue is smooth; flows well with the narrative and doesn’t feel choppy or forced. Readers are immediately thrusted into the lives of Tim, Molly and the Motley Crew of shearers. You soon pick out favorites among the group. It is easy to fall in love with this cast of characters from the beginning and that love continues to grow as we read about the hardships Tim and Molly endure throughout their relationship.
Paragraphs are longer than normal, but that doesn’t break up the overall quality and feel of the book. Moore does a wonderful job describing the setting and events that are happening in order to put his readers into the story themselves. One can almost envision this novel becoming a movie because Moore puts enough effort into these elements. It is refreshing to read a romance novel without in depth sex scenes. While they are in the novel, they are alluded with statements like “Molly didn’t answer, she stripped off in a matter of seconds, ‘Well, maybe this might prove it to you cowboy, show me what you’ve got?’ and Tim did.” Readers still get the idea of what’s happening, but it remains sort of private between the characters.
This entertaining page turner is one that will be sure to please the fan of this genre. It is also a wonderful novel for readers new to romance to pick up an read as well. Moore provides readers with memorable characters and a wonderfully written tale that will definitely gain him fans easily.
