Before I begin reading The Power Master, I was greeted with a two-page glossary of words created by the author. This reference tool came in handy while reading; as these new words are something I had to adjust to. I have found this to be a rocky reading experience in the beginning, but gradually these words found their way into my vocabulary. In order to get a better understanding of the context as I read, I ended up reverting to the glossary from time to time, especially as new words appeared. After a while, however, reading the text added a new language embellishing the fantasy aspect of the novel and creating a clever, clearer understanding of what happens throughout the book.

Author Hazel Richardson created epically great characters and their accompanied background stories, which granted a relatable connection within this book. The author also provided very descriptive environments that almost guaranteed a reader’s imagination to run wild, creating a detailed image based off the author’s words alone. This gave minimal gaps in both the plot and the settings where each of the story’s cast participated. The many relationships and interactions which were developed along each of the epic journeys, made their lives more interesting as I dove deeper into the story. A true sense of bonding, when it came to these relationships, was what heightened my interest while reading. The author did an exceptional job at keeping and maintaining a balance of emotions and action; such as when the time of defending the settlements occurred, which was when most of the action was found.

Much can be learned from Tarker, A Power Master, who is also the protagonist in this book, having true dedication and patience while handling a wide range of situations. He has been the most collected and calming personality that casted a positive light on all those, which appreciated his assistance. His quick thinking, paired with a wonderful sense of humor, lightened any mood, resulting in a refreshing reading experience. Anywhere Tarker was, you automatically knew his help would be given in an unselfish manner and the people could be assured safety under his protection.

If you’re a grand fan of fantasies, appreciate the depths of well-defined personalities and enjoy a good laugh, this is the perfect book to read.   The adventures you’ll experience while reading will take you to another world at a different time, while you have a first-hand encounter witnessing the astonishing powers The Power Master.

The ending was most heartfelt as there is so much more emotion when something happens to a character, the author’s tone changes and the reader feels closer to the characters impacted. This is a marvelous technique and I compliment Hazel Richardson on this literary skill. This displayed the author’s versatility and the capabilities to manipulate the reader into feeling more strongly during very sad times.

All in all, The Power Master is an amazing read full of excitement, creativity of vernacular, laughter, kindness and sadness, which are the inherent elements of a uniquely great reading experience.
