Portraying a tale of love, loss, and regaining lost connections, The Wagging Tale of Bliss: Reconnecting, brings together three very different women whose perspectives on life and love are altered, when they experience a re-establishing of lost connections within themselves, with life and with objects of their desire, by connecting with each other.
Author Bhavna Khemlani’s tale offers readers a story of hope and healing as three women Dian, Tiya and Giselle, each with very different personalities and pasts, cross paths by way of “grand design” and come together to become friends. It is through their relationships, exploration of their past relationships, understanding their trauma fueled emotions, and finally learning to “let go of past hurts, that rehabilitates their connection with themselves, life, love, and the pursuit of their personal happiness.
Things start out with an introduction to an impatient Dian; she is 31 years old and moved to Vietnam to expand her wedding planner business. She waits for her boyfriend at a restaurant, becoming anxious as time passes and he does not show up. Instead, she finds out that she is being stood up and is unceremoniously dumped over the phone via voicemail. Dian reeling with her own emotions, notices at a nearby table that another woman seems to be struggling with something internally, as well and it may very well be similar to her own emotional turmoil.
Thereafter, Dian approaches the woman, Tiya Gupta, a veterinarian who has a practice in Vietnam, as it turns out Dian’s instincts were right as Tiya has an issue with her love as well. After not dating for several years, she consents to a set-up blind date and finds herself stood up as well via text message. Next, we meet Gisele Gilbert, who is a jewelry designer, whose disposition towards life is normally optimistic. She is being asked to leave by a waitress because she is occupying a table to do her artwork and the table is needed for other customers. It is when she is invited over to Dian and Tiya’s table that this wonderfully healing tale truly takes off as the three become fast friends, embarking on their healing journey as they begin their reconnection to love through sharing their personal tales of love and loss, as well as traveling together, experiencing a renewed connection to life as well.
Overall, The Wagging Tale of Bliss, is a wonderfully inspirational read which I enjoyed. Author Bhavna Khemlani did very well with creating an entertaining story built with intriguing characters, who are immersed in a narrative which aptly explored life, love, relationships. Moreover, she includes various ways to approach healing. Altogether, an inspiration to read and I do recommend this work especially to readers who are interested in international authors.
