Two Bodies One Soul: Brothers is a story that pulls you in with likeable characters and an interesting plot, never letting up on the excitement of this imaginary world until the final page. It’s hard to assign this book a genre because it has elements of many different genres – science fiction, young adult and fantasy. Author Alannah King creates a world so different from reality that it’s easy to get lost in the story and to stay up all night reading.
This book captured my attention from the first line, “The sun is like a phoenix.” This was just one of many beautiful metaphors scattered throughout the book. As a fan of poetry, I was really impressed with the imagery King created. In addition to creating images with words, the book was filled with illustrations that depicted characters and scenes. I loved the relationship that the brothers had as it reminded me of the relationship I have with my siblings. It made it easy to relate to the actions the characters were making.
King wrote a book that is hard to put down, due to both the intriguing story and the amazing way in which she writes. I’m not normally a fan of books that take place in a realm outside of reality, but I seriously couldn’t put this book down. I think this book is a hidden gem in the genres it matches. It reminded me of some of my favorite vampire books without being stereotypical. I’m sure you’ll enjoy this book even if you don’t enjoy reading about vampires. The characters are so likeable and relatable that they’re fun to read.
Two Bodies One Soul: Brothers is a great book that anyone would enjoy, no matter what they’re favorite genre is. This book includes elements from many different genres, is written beautifully, and creates a world that you can get lost in. In the hectic world we live in, it’s nice to escape into other worlds from time to time.
