Author Paul Anthony Cooper wants people to seek and listen to the “Christ within” and with his recent work on spirituality Walk the Pathway to Spirituality: How to find the still small voice and open the door to the spiritual he not only shares his journey towards enlightenment but also gives instructions on how to achieve it. While Mr. Cooper does not profess being a spiritual guru, he does possess a level of spiritual knowledge and understanding that makes his voice important to those that are seeking to attain spiritual enlightenment.Divided into 2 parts; part 1 is an autobiographical depiction of his early life with his family in Christchurch, New Zealand, which also shows the beginning of his experiences with spirituality. Within this section, he cites several real life examples of his personal encounters (while growing up) with the spiritual realm. His spiritual beginnings commenced in his very early youth, as he witnessed his mother’s spiritual practices. Being a deeply spiritual and intuitive woman, she regularly practiced meditation, prayer, and spiritual healing. It was her involvement as a pupil of the Institute of Mentalphysics in California that spurred him on towards the spiritual life, eventually leading to his involvement with the institute as well. His personal involvement as a pupil with the institute introduced him to a world where breathing exercises, meditation and affirmation exercises began to have a profoundly positive effect on his health aiding him to get rid of asthma and other illnesses. The practices that he learned became a part of his life well into his adulthood and he still practices currently.
Part 2 of the book focuses on the specific methods that he employed to open the pathway to his higher self. Starting with looking at the mindset and including several prayers that Mr. Cooper found to be helpful to him, these chapters examine in depth, the path of the personal spiritual journey. Containing information focused on not only the why but the how to enhance the development of your inner voice and the exercises that when practiced regularly over time will open the door to a more peaceful, healthy and spiritually balanced life. At the end of each chapter, is listed a series of key points from the chapter to further the reader’s understanding of the information included in the chapter. In addition, the author stresses how persistence and focus are key and that the process is not one of immediate gratification but one that is gradual and faith in God is also a predominate factor in getting to your higher self.
I enjoyed reading Walk the Pathway to Spirituality; it comes from an honest place, written in an uncomplicated style. The autobiographical section is engaging to read and down to earth. This is not a fluffy book that spouts overly zealous religious tenets like some books on spirituality can do; instead, this is a work that authentically inspires. The author shares his genuine journey and the practices that helped him in the hopes that others seeking the answers to life and death will follow and learn to listen to that inner voice. The spiritual exercises included are easy to understand and follow. I recommend this book to any reader interested in a great beginners guide to the spiritually enhanced life.
