Eruna is a world where there is always wind, should the wind cease, as will life.  Eruna is home to winged beings called Wings and non-winged beings called Grubs.  At eight years old, every winged child is sent to school at Cliffside to be educated and prepared for the Wind Trials.  These trials must be passed in order to become a Wind Dancer and further study magic. A young winged being is determined to make her way to Cliffside and finds help from her grandfather who happens to be the leader of the Northern Plateau clans.  Meanwhile at Cliffside two eighth level students have become bound together as life-mates.  The young woman is the daughter of the High Matriarch, the young man is the son of the Patriarch: star crossed lovers.  Living between the roots of the giant trees of Eruna, the wingless people have been made to serve the Winged. Their lives are not their own, but they find joy and happiness despite their enslavement. One such young man finds his plans for a bright future blown away during the Turn of Winds and sets out on a journey of his own.  Enter into the world of Eruna, and the lives of these characters.

Winds of Eruna is a great fantasy adventure novel filled with excellent world building woven with interesting and unique characters to make this an enchanting tale.  While there are several characters, they are all well written and well described so that it is easy to picture how they would look, act, and even the sound of their voices. There aren’t so many characters that one would get lost in who is who or who is doing what.  Everything is planned out so well and flows smoothly from one scene to the next.

This story grabs your attention right from the beginning and holds it throughout; never once getting bored or feeling like it is dragging on.  Once you begin reading this book, you’ll get lost within author Kathy Hyatt Moore’s poetic writing and drawn into her story.  She creates something special and unique with her storytelling; she shows rather than tells readers what is happening.  Readers cannot predict what will happen next and will find themselves eagerly turning the pages just to get to the next part.

This is a wonderfully written novel that many fantasy lovers would thoroughly enjoy reading.  It would be a fantastic novel for new readers to the genre to pick up and read. It is very well thought out, well written and an interesting story.
