There are three types of people in this world, author Brian Kasperitis alleges. You’re either a Whiner 49er; one of those people who has to ask, Duh!Why does my Life Suck?; or one of those people who Got it Goin’ on. Which type are you?
In his book, Your Life Sucks- Because You Are a Big Jerk! Kasperitis explores the three types of people in this world and how we all hold the power within ourselves to make our lives better. In Kasperitis’ book, Heaven and Hell are a state of mind you create for yourself; although, you may prefer to call it Karma. He writes about how our everyday actions influence the environment around us. Take control of how others around you act by first taking charge of how you act, this author advises.
If there can be one quote to best describe the contents of this book, it may be “You don’t suffer from headaches because your body is aspirin-deprived!” Not only is this a metaphor for the entire book, that your actions create your environment and not the other way around, but Kasperitis also argues the physical ailments we suffer can also be a byproduct of our attitude. Not only does our attitude effect the way people treat us, it changes the way our body treats us! Thus this quote offered to us by the author not only describes for us the book concept, it becomes a very real and very meaningful lesson to the reader.
Throughout his book, Kasperitis always emphasizes taking charge of your life in a positive way. Attitude is everything, and nothing proves that better than the Wally-gater story. In Kasperitis’ story, a wealthy party host offers his guests three exorbitant prizes if they are brave enough to swim the length of his pet alligator’s swimming pool. The party hears a loud splash and moments later a young man leaps from the far edge of the alligator’s swimming pool. The joke of the story is the young man refuses the three prizes, asking instead for the name of the person who pushed him into the pool! But what Kasperitis learns, and what he imparts on his readers, is the young man’s attitude when faced with a dangerous and daunting task. Instead of floundering the water, he makes the best of his circumstance and wins the exorbitant prize. That young man, Kasperitis exclaims, had Got it Goin’ on!
Your Life Sucks- Because You Are a Big Jerk! is a meaningful book for anyone honest enough with themselves to read it. There are no fancy words or gimmicks here, just the outright truth about what we fail to see ourselves, and how shocking it is that we miss it. It may be dispiriting to learn you’re a Whiner 49er, but by taking to heart Kasperitis’ comments and using your positive attitude to change your life, you may finally be able to say you Got it Goin’ on. This book should be digested for real help in gaining personal authenticity.
